Steven Towns of Seeking Alpha writes this lengthy -- and very, very fine -- article on Takefuji Corp. (8564/JP or TAKAF/OTC). Steve mentions me in his piece, as we've exchanged more than one email on Takefuji in particular, and Japanese consumer lenders in general.
As you know, I'm underwater with this holding. But I'm holding tight. And if that changes, you'll read about it here.
RE: TAKAF bigcharts.com is showing volume data starting only on Nov 1. I like to use OBV and accumulation in judging a stock. Other sites I tried also have the same problem. Can you recommend a site that shows volume data + tools for at least 6 months?
thanks

Gary: I can't offhand, because I'm not a big chart guy. Try the Takefuji investor relations website -- they have a fine English language site. Or try the Japanese stock exchange in Tokyo. Wish I had a better answer.

Try pinksheets.com page for Takefuji http://www.pinksheets.com/quote/chart.jsp?symbol=TAKAF although it only has charts and no downloadable share price history, as far as I know. Also try Bloomberg http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/cbuilder?ticker1=TAKAF:US And for its ordinary shares, see: http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/cbuilder?ticker1=8564:JP

Good article on the Japanese non-bank lenders at the Japan Times.

Do you think Takefuji will have to pare back it's dividend given the lower profitability of the company going forward?

Patrick: It may, but I have no idea. It had been planning on boosting its dividend. Perhaps it will see fit to hold off on that. But the dividend isn't the reason to own the stock, or not own it.
