If you’ve profited from the stock picks on this site and you’d like to leave a donation for Controlled Greed.com, please use one of the options below. The amount you donate is entirely up to you.
Why donate? The big reason is because the investment ideas found here are generally profitable -- and you want to see this site continue so you’ll continue profiting from more stock picks in the future.
But another reason is that unlike financial sites, stock newsletters and research advisory firms charging expensive subscriptions for their services, Controlled Greed relies on voluntary donations by readers.
This site generates enough ad revenue to pay for the domain name, blog publishing and hosting. Yet it doesn’t come close to paying for my time. I spend many hours researching stock ideas and finding articles that benefit you and me.
What’s more, as you know, I invest in uncommon and unloved stocks that are unpopular with most investors. This means that by definition this site will never appeal to the vast majority of investors.
That’s a good thing because it gives you and me time to buy bargain-priced stocks before they become popular with the masses.
But it also means that my blog will never get the traffic of day-trading sites or those focusing on broad market commentary.
You see, it’s a fact of life that a blog reporting on buying things like resellers of fax machines, old media companies and Japanese firms won’t get as many visitors as those forecasting the day’s “hot movers” or predicting what the Fed will do next.
So, without your support, this site will have to move to a completely subscription-based model. Or at least be like The Kirk Report, where general posts are free but specific investment moves are reserved for those donating $50 or more.
Neither of those options appeals to me. I like the blog as it currently operates. If you do, too, then please support it by making a donation now.
How much should you donate? If you already subscribe to a professional service or stock newsletter and find the investment ideas on Controlled Greed comparable in worth, perhaps you could donate a percentage of what you’re paying one of those now. I don’t have the printing and postage costs of a newsletter, so you shouldn’t donate as much to me as you’re currently paying them.
Remember, this site provides stock-specific investment ideas. Stocks that your editor invests in alongside you. I eat my own cooking. How much is that worth to you? Perhaps it’s worth $25, $50, $100 or more. But the amount is entirely up to you. Just remember that any amount is most appreciated.
And know that your donation helps keep this site going for the benefit -- and future profits -- of value investors like you.
How can you make a donation? You’ve got two easy ways to donate:
To make a donation via PayPal, MasterCard, VISA, American Express or Discover, just click the PayPal button on the left sidebar.

Jeff: If requesting voluntary donations sparks such a reaction in you, it's probably best that you delete this blog from your blogroll.

I heard that Jeff runs a blog called Uncontrolled Feed Deleter.com.
Whew. I'm glad he's gone.
