Barron's Online has a Q&A with Donald Yacktman, a veteran fund manager. Fund manger profiles and interviews are a little bit 1980s, in that it seems back then mutual funds were more of a hot topic. In fact, I remember seeing ads for mutual fund trading advisories -- that's right, trading. Complete with toll-free hotlines.
Anyway, I still enjoy these, especially when it is with someone I'm more or less familiar with.
Yacktman reports putting 70% of his fund's assets in 10 names -- with the top three being Coca-Cola, AmeriCredit and Viacom. (We're fellow travelers in John Malone's Liberty Media.)
And he's not in gold -- saying he'd rather own Coca-Cola.
